What the fuck are you doing this New Years!?
It’s the biggest party of the year! The most music the most riotous behaviour, the biggest concentration of sequins in one place and one time!, the most alcohol consumed, the most nudity before 2am, and the most drag seen in one 12 hour period!
Not to mention the beginning of the busiest time of the birthing year (that’s October girlfriend!). What a hangover!!!!!!
Each year the ritual of party chess begins about now; what are you doing? Who are you going to hang with? Who are you planning to caudal with? Where are you going? What are you wearing and then there are the shoes!
Then there is the question of which party OR rather how many parties are you going to attend!
Over the years one party just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore, there has to be the pre-party (2 or 3) before the actual party and then one or two post parties/venues ! Its all planned then re-planned then at the last minute changed again, three times on average, trying to create that perfect moment that big reveal of a hug, a longing kiss and a big bang of a “happy new year!”
I mean it will be the only happy new year for 2010! So it is important. But does it work out like that? Will it end in an orgasmic finale? Will the right person be there for you? Or will it just end up being another drunken blur filled grope and a spew on the Loubutans and nothing else…
I’m hearing the plans thick and fast this week, I’m going to Matakana, to Gisbourne, to Sydney, to New York (bitch!), we’re going to eat this, drink that, watch this, touch that! Its amazing all the various experiences each and everyone is planning to have, but the common thread is doing it with that special someone, that chosen one! The one that counts (for now). That is what makes the meal ,the drink, the fireworks work! All that hair and make up, all the dressing up and effort worth it! Is that the reason new years parties are so special? Or is it the drink? I believe it can’t just be the drink! Or am I alone in thinking the décolletage still counts!?
Personally it’s the one time that the common man can kind of capture the moment, create that special something because basically everything is setup that way ! I mean the date is set for a mother of a time! It’s the one date on the calendar that is constant! So if you’re gonna get lucky, tonight is pretty much the night! An acquaintance once said to me, “don’t underestimate alcohol, it really does bring people together, ALL this person’s relationships began and basically revolve around the grog!” if you engage the drink all your dreams do come true!? So you see New years is a hole in one! (sorry tiger but I’m going to have to quote you!).
So what will you be doing? And who will you be ending up with this 2010?
