Nameless face #19
I was having Michael Camino month and who did I come across:

What, you haven’t seen “Year of the Dragon”?

Well I bet your John Candy loving ass remembers him from “Cool Runnings”?

Everyone is smug about bobsledding when you are wearing a turtle neck.
Ok, so you could possibly argue that he hasn’t been in much recently, that his heyday is over, but he has shown up recently in “Charlie Valentine” where he takes centre stage as the lead, “Little Children” the one with Kate Winslet and a disturbing end, “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” John Reilly doing more humour stuff, “Tulse Luper” if you’re a Greenaway fan, “Training Day” with the pillar of our community Denzel. He has also dropped in on a vast number of TV Shows “Crossing Jordan”, “Law & Order”, “Lost”, “Cold Case” and the like.

Yeah, sometimes he’s funny but usually…

… he’s quite serious… wait he looks kind of funny in this shot too!
Basically our man here was in everything for a good decde or so such as…”Born on the Fourth of July” with crazy Tom, “K2″ which is shorter than Everest but still really scary, “Falling Down” with poor old Mickey Douglas, “The Ref” with an unsurprisingly aggressive Denis Leary, the brilliant “Dead man Walking” as Earl Delacroix, Father of the boy Sean Penn kills, “Mad City’ where Travolta looses the plot and Hoffman is just all Hoffman-ish, then he did “Flubber” the not so funny kids comedy with Robin “off the crack unfortunately” Williams. There is a bit of a down turn after that until he get a crack on “X-Files” which gives him a bit more momentum.

So who is the smug Charlie Valentine? Who basically owned ’85-’95 with his stern face but has the classic hard charm which makes him capable to show up anywhere although he is inevitably always a cop pitted against the good cop who breaks convention to get his way. Or is that every other role in every other police drama?

I’ll tell you who he is… RAYMOND J. BARRY but you won’t remeber that and possibly won’t even remember poor old Ray J, he’ll just give you some sort of nostalgia or de ja vu you don’t deserve!

Posts like this bgirhten up my day. Thanks for taking the time.
